Sydney Dunning Earns ACC Offensive Player of the Week

North Carolina’s Dunning earns first career ACC weekly honor

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Due to her tremendous play against Elon, North Carolina Volleyball outside hitter Sydney Dunning has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first career ACC weekly honor for the junior outside hitter from Fayetteville, Ga. Dunning helped lead the Tar Heels (10-0) to a 3-0 weekend as she averaged 4.25 kills per set and hit .370 (36-7-73) on the week, including a sizzling .488 (12-2-18) performance in a 3-0 sweep of Elon on Friday. The junior outside hitter also averaged 2.75 digs and 0.88 blocks per set. She had 12 kills and 10 digs for her second career double-double against Elon while adding six blocks and four service aces on the weekend. She had a team-high five aces against Western Michigan on Saturday. Carolina will be back in action on Friday, September 15, as it opens ACC play at Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. The Tar Heels are 5-1 all-time against the Hokies.
