Bama QB Jalen Milroe Launching Series With Giannis and Jay Williams’s Company

Milroe to Host Show About HBCU Football, Culture, and the Student-Athlete Experience

Tuscaloosa, AL

University of Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is teaming up with two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and former ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Williams to launch a new docuseries about Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) football. The series, titled "HBCU Gridiron," will air on Amazon Prime Video and will focus on the unique culture, traditions, and challenges of HBCU football programs.

Milroe, who is a rising star in college football, said he was inspired to create the series after seeing the impact that HBCU football had on his own life. "I grew up watching HBCU football, and it was a huge part of my childhood," Milroe said. "I saw the passion and the pride that these schools have, and I wanted to share that with the world."

Antetokounmpo and Williams are both passionate about supporting HBCUs. Antetokounmpo, who is a native of Greece, said he was impressed by the resilience and determination of HBCU students and athletes. "HBCUs are a vital part of our country's history and culture," Antetokounmpo said. "I'm proud to be a part of this project and to help shine a light on these amazing schools."

Williams, who played college basketball at Duke University, said he was drawn to the project because of its focus on the student-athlete experience. "HBCU football players are more than just athletes," Williams said. "They are students, leaders, and role models. I'm excited to tell their stories and to show the world what makes HBCU football so special."

"HBCU Gridiron" will feature a variety of stories from HBCU football programs across the country. The series will explore the history, culture, and traditions of these schools, as well as the challenges that they face. The series will also profile some of the most talented and successful HBCU football players in the country.

The series is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in early 2024.
